Using as little petrol as possible

Have been on a mission in my 1.2 over the last two weeks to use as little petrol as possible,(seriously running out of student funds) i.e driving in as higher gear as possible but without the revs being so low that its putting strain on the engine....

The results are pretty impressive to be fair... After putting in 22£ i have done 241 miles and i've probably got enough to get to the petrol station now... (i hope)

Just thought i'd post up a positive thread up about clios for once rather than a rant.. or "help its busted"

ive been on a similar mission and ive been averaging nealy 48.4 mpg on my 1.2 ive done close to 400 miles on about £40 so pretty good going i say.
But if i drive normally i get about 44mpg , its alot of work getting those extra 4-5mpg.

on my journey down to cornwall to see the folks, managed the whole trip on 1 tank, 398 miles with an indicated 43 left, and an average of 44.2mpg!!!
never ever done the journey on one tank before!!
anyone better that???

I've been driving carefully all week and seem to have hit a brick wall at 42.5 with a mix of roads.

Do you have a button on the end of your wiper stalk? if so press it to change the display information. Not sure if all models have this function though

one day im gonna do this in the vee, i reckon with some 55mph motorway crusing you could easily clear 300 miles from the £50 tank.

i'm getting 42.3 MPG at the moment, thats with a couple of 40 mile return trips and about 150miles of town driving short trips. Not too bad to be honest. Could be better though.

39 seems to be a nice average for us, but it seems to be fairly easy to do 45/48mpg if your're careful. Much better than we managed in our (rather ill) 1.2 16v... But that was thrashed EVERYWHERE.

average of 80ish on motorway see's 55ish on a run to chester zoo and back.

I've been trying this as well to try and save money. I don't have the mpg screen so I work it out across the tank and I'm constantly getting 33mpg atm. Not bad since I do boot it a lot but strangely, when I have a quarter of a tank left on the gauge, I can get about 100 miles out it. But only 300 on a full tank, it can't be that out can it lol

I can get about 45mpg in my clio on the motorway. Ironically I can get the same in the merc (E320 cdi).

Well I dont know about you lot buy I pay a lot of money for my fuel so i'm damn well gonna enjoy it.. Foot the the Floor FTW !!

on your right stalk theres a button on the end... push it in and watch ur dials, it shows a few different things!

not a newb he just doesn't have the right spec car!

no fog lights mean its either an expression or authentique! they dont have trip computers, but can be upgraded to use them. well my expression works anyway!

but back to topic!

if driven carefully i've seen 65-70 but driven hard around 45-50
