Using brake disk cleaner?

  ?
Used this for the first time when i was painting over my rear drums after sanding them down... am i right to understand that you just soak them in it and let the rust/grease run off?

Also... is brake disk cleaner the best thing to use prior to painting the drums/calipers or has anyone got any better suggestions?

I never did any of that, I used wire wool, a wire brush & a bit of emery paper. Cleaned the whole lot up then get on with the hammerite. Did them ages ago & they still look like new.

Yeh wire brush attachments for my drill is what i used. so much easier to really grind down the rust eh?

Just wondering if i needed to use brake disk cleaner as when i did the amount of crap that ran off was amazing.
