Something to add.
I didn't feel it before but now I have the powerflex mount I can.

The engine has a noticeable rumble between 1k and 3k. It's slight but it's there. Feels like a gurgle?

Could this be a sign of an issue? And if so what should I check? God this car is taxing my patience recently

That's the vibration going through the powerflex mount. Hence It only happening since you've fitted it.

Out of interest, how dirty is/are the tail-pipes on your car?

My exhaust tips on the 182 started getting really black and sooted up. This went hand in hand with the MPGs going south and I got it chucked into the local Renault dealership for a full diagnostic.

They came back with a faulty oxygen upstream sensor and a laughable quote of over £400 to do the work. Got the part number and emailed it to Birchdown along with driving down there a few days later. Had it fitted, the exhaust tips cleaned up and have been averaging 33-35mpg ever since.

Could be that?

New MAP sensor arrived today was £13 so not bothered about replacing it.
Going to stick that in now.

  Too many
Would it not make sense to let a specialist take look and locate the issue rather than throwing parts at it at random?

I have mate, They cant see a problem. And unless i pay around £150-£200 in Diagnostic labour i wont be anywhere closer. I have the RStuner so can check stuff and tbh i dont mind throwing new parts at it as they are cheap :)

Not yet mate, I was planning to pop down to work today but things just got in the way.

I'm charging my laptop now and plan to do a trip in the morning whilst logging the Data too. I'm going to treat myself to a Krispy kreme on a motorway services haha :)

The engine after new map sensor runs on idle @ 1.2k for 2 to 3 seconds then drops to 1k.
also when cold it's 1.6k for a few seconds then down to 1k.

is this normal? Or have I got a dodgy / cheap Map sensor fitted?

Put the old one back and it's fine

Could probably dig out some data from the Renault manuals about the sensor but as Fred who knows more about these cars than most of us put together has a suggested a first test I would personally do that.

No I haven't done the test yet, everytime I get the chance to do a decent drive where I can do the test the wife wants to come and refuses to take the clio... she wants me to drive her megane as its quieter.... so im waiting for a moment where I can go on my own.

Refuses? I don't understand. If I need to take the Clio my wife gets in the Clio and understands or doesn't come. You won't be driving like a loon. If my wife said I'm only getting in the Peugeot as it's the better family car and I refuse to get in the Clio knowing I need to run the Clio I think I'd laugh until I passed out :p Give her a good seeing to and take it out when she's in the dreamy aftermath and you can do no wrong.

... excuse me?

I like to drive the megane, and behind a happy woman is a happy man so I will do what I like.

don't tell me this is a forum where the men don't allow their woman to get their way once in a while?

Today for example we left and now in Lemington... didn't go home and used a good amount of her fuel. So in fact I picked well as now I still have fuel in my car ;)

What. The. Actual. f**k?

Someone's told you a test to see if your engine is ok and whenever you're about to do it your wife wants to go with you... And insists you do the test in her Megane?

Did I get that right?

It's the refuses part! Keeping a woman happy part is totally understandable! I always negotiate time on the car first but she's never refused to do what needs to be done.

No hahahahah.

I will be doing the test today, told the wife that I'm the man and she will do as I ask! Stay at home whilst I trundle down the m69! She was.. well less than pleased and thinks I'm wasting fuel lol!
She then said it would be cheaper to take her car!?!? I just left the room at that point.

Life's fun :D

I'm just about to head out.
and is this the way a forum moderator should be acting towards a paid up member?

Yes. Especially when that member has asked for advice, advice has been given, and that member has ignored the advice and carried on asking questions that he wouldn't need to ask if he just followed the advice that was given to him ages ago!

MY wife understands that if we need to take a particular car -for whatever reason- then we have to take it.

If it's the 182, which is stiff as f**k, rattly and loud, then that's just life.

If it's the golf, she's laughing, and offering to drive.

Either way, we take the car that we need to take. Even if it means having to put a full tank in when the other car(s) are full.

Oi put your knickers back on.
Have been busy and things got in the way.

Just filled up and am about to do the 10 mins 65mph test, just setting up the laptop to record some data whilst I'm at it.
just trying to decide which road to take, I'm off the a5, so the m69 seems the obvious choice.

On a happy note, found a garage local who is selling super unleaded for £1.31 per L. Only 97ron but good enough for me :)
