V-Maxx for Clio 182 Cup is all go...

  Audi A3 3.2 Quattro
I was over visiting V-Maxx in Holland yesterday, and was pushing for a kit for the 182 with Cup suspension, and they're happy to work with us making this happen.

Initially we need a standard 182 Cup front strut (used is fine, but must be in working condition). If anybody can help us with supplying a strut, and possibly with trial fitting a kit later on, we would be happy to then supply a kit at a heavily reduced price of £200 (RRP should be £399.99 as with other Clio kits).

Drop me an email to pete@perfco.co.uk if you're able to help and we'll get the ball rolling on these.

  Dodgy one
Am i not correct in saying they are the same as the 172/182 struts just with a different spacing?

  Audi A3 3.2 Quattro
Hi, yes they have different width / spacing on the struts than the other Clio models. We require a sample strut to correctly develop the 182 Cup version.

i presume it's just the hub connection what needs changing on them. shouldn't be too hard to make.

I've done about 35k on them and bought them 2nd hand with an unknown amount of mileage on them so not too bad.... may just need a good servicing and check over but still interested in the V-Maxx's

I emailed Pete last night regarding the front struts, I can get one, or both, sent off as soon as I receive a reply and hopefully help speed things along.

Good Stuff..... Should be available in no time as its just slightly different bolt spacing.

It's hard to imagine how much better H&R are compared to these for the price tag.

Not much in it at all, handling is on par with H&Rs, only difference ride comfort with H&Rs being slightly better. This is from my experience of Fletcher's H&Rs and my Vmaxx's on B road blasts.

Shock absorbers were sent today, so hopefully Pete should be in receipt of them tomorrow.

Shock absorbers arrived with Pete and should now (hopefully) be in Holland with V-Maxx.

I'll keep this updated with any further developments as I'm sure Pete will too.

Ok, hopefully a positive update on this. V-Maxx have just finished producing a pair of prototype 182 Cup struts today, which will be with me on Monday.

We need to get these trial fitted to a car by Thursday, to get these produced quickly. Just waiting for confirmation if Da is able to help with trial fitting at such short notice, otherwise I'll be looking for another willing helper :)

As soon as we have confirmation that these fit correctly, we'll be able to move into production, and then confirm dates, pricing, etc.

Thanks to Da and everybody else for all their help so far.

Well you can adjust the dampening to start with lol

If there is sufficient demand for adjustable damping kits for the Clio, it's always a possibility we can offer this with our V-Maxx kits.

Adjustable V-Maxx is already in production for a number of other vehicles.

If they had adjustable damping then i think they would appeal to a lot more people (me included) as i will be going for the more expensive options for the adjustable damping

would this be able to be an option for other clios aswell such as the V-maxx for the 172/172cup etc.. ?

Also could different spring rates be available (say road & track)

I would be interested in harder front springs for my Ktec kit, to which the front struts/springs/bolts look exactly the same as the vmaxx kit.

Adjustable damping is an option for the 60RE03 kit (172 inc Cup and 182 non Cup) but just comes down to demand, and volume really.

As for different spring rates, V-Maxx kits are designed really as "fast road" suspension, rather than track suspension. It's unlikely that a choice of spring rates will be offered, but again if there is sufficient interest, it is a possibility.

Cool, well you did break it in the first place :p

They rub around corning tbh, need harder front springs!

It might well by that the KTR kits use a softer spring to the V-Maxx. If lowered within the suggested range with correct fitment wheels, then V-Maxx won't rub. One of our sales guys runs V-Maxx on his 172 Cup, and it drives great, no rubbing at all. Of course it might well not be as low as yours.

No I didnt! It was already broken hence why the bulb was out! :) I just brought the fault out more when we fitted the LED's :)

Do you know roughly how much more it would be for having adjustable damping on them ?

how much of an interest would there need to be fo it to be looked into, could stick up a thread on here and see

It would need to be in the region of 30+ kits initially, on one particular version - i.e. 60RE03 - "172 inc Cup / 182 exc Cup" - but I guess this will be of more interest to the RS models than the smaller engine cars anyhow.

Sorry missed the price question - I would anticipate the kit having a RRP of around £550 inc VAT.
