V-Power Card... who has one? worth it?

  '02 172 Cup
i picked up my shell drivers card a week or so ago, and since i only buy V-Power i wanted to upgrade to the V-Power card! as it gives you twice as many points as the standard driversclub one.

the criteria for being accepted onto the V-power card i read on the website, and was told via email from their customer services is buying 150litres or V-power, AND 150 litres of normal unleaded within one Quarter. this seems silly as some people only use V-power. anywho on the telephone i spoke to a chap who informed me i could simply buy 300litres of Vpower in the Quarter.

they have a promotion on now that one on the drivers club card is worth 3 pts, and witha v-power club card is worth 6 points. but this end one 5th march. where you will get 1pnt per litre on standard drivers club, and 2pnts per litre with a V-Power Card.

problem is as far as i can see you need 500 pnts to get £2.50 off. thats only 0.5/1% off. so that equates to about 1.1p per litre. is it worth the hassle?!

here is the link to their site

https://www.shelldriversclub.co.uk/smart/index.html?site=en-en

just seems almost like they really dont want to give you anything in return?!

Most points card things are pretty poor. If you always fill up with V Power anyway you might as well do it though. I think they sometimes do other promotions and things for cardholders too?

I got a standard shell card and used it for a few months and still haven't got enough points for a £5 off petrol voucher. I don't really use shell anymore its too expensive.

I offset my carbon footprint with my Shell Card. The savings I was going to make are pointless, so I decided to give the points (tripled or something) to a charity that plant a tree for every 1,000,000 miles I do.

With Tesco you also get 1% all the time by using a clubcard, plus as Fred says you get the 5p things now and again.

I only fill up with Shell so handing over a card everytime and the possibility of getting a couple of quid off makes it worth it.

i've got a shell drivers card and have only earned 792 points since end of november and thats with two cars and now and again filling up the works van.

it's the nearest garage to where i live so i'd fill up there anyway so might aswell get something back now and again.

the onlt thing is my statment aint showing my double points:S

Apply of one of the Shell credit cards too, put all your fuel on that and you recieve a 3% discount. All adds up tbh.

I got the 3 quid voucher before Xmas too - just use normal shell most of the time between 20-50 quid a week.

  Better than yours. C*nt.

I've been using my car for 6 months and had around £150 worth of fuel back out of it... If you only fill up at Shell every once in a while or do very few miles then you'll never see it.

I've had one for a few years now, and also have the shell credit card just for fuel purchases as this doubles the points.

Have received plenty of £10 vouchers - worth doing IMHO.

I thought i was getting a pretty good deal by getting petrol at supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury's etc..) because they seem to be the cheapest places to go....

I was talking to a friend about his wife's car the other day and he said the mechanic has recently had to carry out a load of expensive repairs to the engine because of the W**K quality petrol she has been putting in... it turned out she was using all her 5p off vouchers at tesco.

So ive quit buying petrol from supermarkets now cus of the rubbish petrol they sell and just stick to Shell from now on, might be a total rumour but id rather keep myself away from the repair garage if it means spending 1p per litre extra on petrol!:approve:
