V6 air con pump ? Problems !

Mine looks to have given up the ghost well it did a while ago but i've never had the time to find out why I have a v6 sauna. I now know that the pump doesn't fire up, the clutch or whatever it is doesn't come in so just sits there & you can turn it round. The problem doesn't appear to be electrical as it was tested out.

I've spoken to a few breakers for a pump, I need to know what they came with, did a mk1 just come with any old pump going ?? I realise it'll be a Laguna one, will it say on it what it is ? (will I have to get under the stupid thing again & look at the pump?)

The cars an 02 reg if that makes any difference. I realise that i'll need the a/c gassing up etc afterwards too. Is it best to get a new aux belt on it too ? (I realise the a/c is driven by the belt, the belt is just over a year old)

Also is there anyone (specialist) who'll be able to do the lot for me (I just want it fixed tbh) I'm in Essex/London but i'd travel for a bit for the right place to sort it.

Lack of power turning it. Common problem will the Illiad Vees.

Lol, cheers James. That's the thing it might be the pump, or it could be that's it's not powering up to make the clutch engage etc.

near chippenham, its round the tophalf of the m25 and about an hour down the m4, just the other side of swindon.

I hope it's not an engine out job too mate ! I may as well get the oil changed while the cars there too. It's a trek for me, but it needs sorting.

Do you need regassing before you go any further maybe? Recantly a chap had the same symptoms and a regass sorted things.

Nope it's fully gassed up. The light comes on when I press the button & the revs drop a bit, but it doesn't engage.
