V6 Front Calipers on a 172..?

Has anyone done this yet, or does anyone even know if its possible..?

What would be involved (Parts needed, brackets to be fabricated etc etc)..?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've seen RB26DETT Skyline engines in Toyota Corolla Twin-Cams... I've seen a Clio with 2 1100cc Blackbird engines in the back of it powering the rear wheels.. AHell, ive even seen a nitrous and a turbo on a motorbike.. lol

Could you elaborate on that a bit for me please?

Failing the V6's, Wilwoods would be in question...

May I ask why you need that much stopping power when even the stock brakes are more than up to the job? Just get some brembo disks and race pads if you need more stopping power.....

LOL this old chestnut. It must be possible, just a case of getting custom brackets made up to mount the calipers. Just check wheel clearance with the caliper.

Mabye a company like Hi-Spec if they still exist could make some up.

It is possible, as most things are possible, if you've got the cash and time No idea how or how much it'd cost though as I know nothing about them

I think a more accurate phrase would be no point as it's much cheaper to buy an off the shelf kit that's already made for the car than frig about getting them to fit.

the stock 172/182 discs are 50mm in diameter and 6mm in thickness too small

(v6mk1 and mk2 uses a 330mmx30mm disc Vs 280mmx24mm on the 172/182)

you would need at least a 17inch wheel for them to fit


as i've always said, the cup racers had stock 172 calipers, its only a light little clio, decent pads, briaded lines, decent fluid and goo cooling and off you go

Well wheel clearance wont be a problem when 18s are fitted to it.. Sick of all these sheep stickin Turini's on their motors (1 does it, they all follow).

And as for the standard brakes being up to the job, that all depends on how you drive.. Fast road use and possible track use will be looking for something other than standards to stop the car, as i have known them to fade alot..

Its going to be a work in progress, so funding isnt the issue.. Something different, yet very practical IS the issue tho..

I doubt you will get fade with a good disk, race pad and braided lines

Maybe i've got this wrong (i'm sorry if I have) but your going to put a set of 18's on to a clio 172 & then take it round a track??

If so, can I ask why ?? What's wrong with smaller wheels, such as the 16's they come with ? I now assume that you need to have massive wheels due to the size of the brake calipers your planning ?
