Value on a 182 Trophy - Potentially needs an engine.

Hi all, a friend of mine has a 182 trophy which he has for sale. In the past couple of days its developed a rattle from the engine past 3/4000 rpm, sounds internal.

He just wants it gone now so he can concentrate on his black phase 1.

Heres the advert thats on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124686589213 obviously it worth a considerable amount less now with the engine rattle but what should he now be asking for it? Any offers?

He should probably mention that in the advert then, not just an instrument panel issue.

Maybe start the bids at £5k? Honestly not sure.

If he was ‘that’ type of person, he’s better off selling it to someone he knows for a reasonable amount.
if he advertises the fact that “Trophy number Xxx needs an engine” it will severely impact future sales prices.

Hes reduced it down to £4,995

It’s a long shot, but it could only be the dephaser that’s making all the noise. It could also be the water pump. They can make you think the wheels are about to fall off in some instances.

like i said, the rattle has just developed over the last couple of days. Advert will be updated.

Have a look at the crank pulley, i was convinced my van had a top end internal rattle and it was the damper pulley starting to go!
