Valver Calipers!

I am going to get hold of some 16v brake calipers and discs but I was wondering how easy they are to fit and roughly how much I should be paying?

Ive had a quote for £60 for calipers and discs both used from a scrap yard, is this a bit pricey?

Cheers Dan.

front calipers? peice of piss to change but i would fit new discs+pads just to be on the safe side.

Yea, I had the whole lot (Calipers, Pads, Discs..) which cost £40..

I then got some new Discs and Pads from Euro Car Parts (£66!) and scrapped the Discs and Pads I got with the Calipers.

Calipers usually go for about £40 for the pair.. which is ok cus you would probably want to buy new discs and pads as Jay172 said.

valver front brakes are dead easy to dissassemble and put back on. Two bolt hold pad carrier on, take this off, tap pads out. Now hard bit, unudoing hose union, only because they can be solid and quite rusted. Then plug this with a matchstick or something, and undo two other bolts that hold rest of caliper on. Take to bench and clean paint and free of piston if sticky. Then bolt back together, with new pads (little coapslip on back of them). Push pistons back to make room for new pads and discs (I do it very slowly with a G-clamp). Bolt up everything (little thread lock on bolt threads wouldnt go amiss), do other claliper and bleed them. sh*t just noticed you are putting 16v calipers onto a 1.4 rt. So not totally sure, if any mods would be required, i.e caliper holes locating differently, but good chance it will go straight on

yeah sorry bout that, but when at work I will do anything but actual work lol, post back, worth knowing if they fit
