valver engine mods?

  valver
how much would i need to chuck at the valver to see some power gains, not quite turbo or super charging, i mean like cams, porting polishing and all the kinda shizzle i hear people talking about it. and what kinda figures can you expect to gain?

secondly how much roughly is turbo charging a valver likely to be?

  R35 GTR
loads of parts pop up now and again for these cars quite cheaply too. cams can be had for couple of hundred. Just do it slowly, its the cheapest way.:)

2.0 bottom end from a Megan plus a ported head and cams is the best way or a Williams engine

Idealy you want the better flowing head (either via a valver head ported or williams head) and a 2.0 Megan or Williams bottom end.

2.0 bottom end the best idea before you do anyhting.

  williams and trophy
as above really. gain per £ a meg bottom end is the way forward. many people disagree, usually the ones that have spent a mint on their 1.8 i might add, but the extra of the 2.0 is on a par with headwork and cams on a 1.8 for less cost, and then when its modded it really can fly.

figures to be expected are , in terms of 1/4 mile times.

14.6 std 2.0 with de-cat zorst (williams eng)
14.4 with 260 cams fitted
14.0 with above and remp......would have been quicker if the kent cams hadnt have exploded ...thanks for nothing kent.

valver times , youd be looking at roughly a second, or 1 1/2 secs behind in same kinda trim.

be very wary of buying used cams tho. especially kents as they fail quite a bit in these engines.
