valver headwork

  RB Clio 182

Anyone had a stage 2 fitted to a valver by hillpower? How much did it set you back?

I wanna speed up my valver and this seems to be one of the best options. Dont fancy NO2 as I would spend a ton on gas. A 2ltr conversion seems pricey for 200cc. Have had a search round this site but can find any posts that really cover this well, if you know different post the link!

If anyone has an opinion please let me know, i cant be the only one who cant decide what to do and wants this answered! Cheers!

i could get your williams upto 250bhp if you paid me enough... i think martin is just trying to get an idea on cost for headwork - BBPT do a kit for £1500 which includes the following :-

=

Gasflowed Head / Manifolds, Performance Camshaft kit with vernier timing pulleys and a Matched programed Engine management chip to suit. When these parts are combined together the engines ‘Breathing’ is drastically improved for an increase in power from 25 - 40 BHP with a good, well setup engine. This package also includes a full set-up on our Rolling road.

=

i think 40bhp is alittle unrealistic IMHO - the most ive seen from the above is 186bhp @ the fly, that was on williams 3. Not sure what work he had before tho.

U can get as much as u want if u have the money, I meant without spending £1000s and £1000s he can get it up to 200 without going to mad on cost.

So on a standard valver for £1500 u are looking at gains of 25 - 40 bhp (and im assuming thats fitted). Ouch. Surely you could put a 2ltr in for not much more that would also produce similar gains but with the potential for so much more. Seems alot for what it is... unless of course the engine revved like mad and felt quick as.

Dont want to put a downer on you bud, but i realy dont think he can get you 200bhp for the sort of money your thinking about.

Id recomend Andy GDi and BenR to do the work for you. You can get your head flowed, a set of cams and chip for under 1500 quid which will see you up to about 165bhp i think

They are based in cambridge yeah? If so thats good as i live close. If anyone lives near there and has had the work done already i would be interested in seeing the difference between mine and modified. Dont want to spend that kind of money and not feel a difference if you know what i mean.

If you did your homework, you could get a 2ltr conversion for less than 1k. That give a healthy increase in power and the power would be far more usable....

Ok i think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Fair enough someone can be good with engines but there is only so much you can do, you cant just magically get bhp from no where.

I think you could get close to 200 bhp but would be talking about 2.5-3 grand with wild cams, fully lightened and ballenced bottom end, stand alone ECU, high rev limit, or Throttle bodies or low pressure turbo.

If your looking for 200bhp the target isnt hard to acheive, its simple about ever increasing costs to get that extra bhp. Sadly its the way it goes and no tuner is able to get round it.

If you want to run 200bhp on the 1.8 (the std valve sizes you would peak at aboue 230bhp) then your really looking at throttle bodies and all associated hardware (meaning standalone ECU and full map from scratch), increased compression ratio, lightened and balanced crank/rods/flywheel, Wilder cams than those needed to make 200bhp on a 2ltr due to the extra rpm you need to run.

But if your more happy with lower costs and less power of around 160-170bhp then the std manifold can be retained, headwork, cams, bottom end work, SMT6 etc etc etc.
