Valver is Back - What a difference!

Got my valver back last night from having my new gearbox fitted and steering tightned. OMG what a different beast!
The two mechanics at Renatec are adament that the ratios in my new box are shorter than what i had. Strange as they are both valver boxes. Anyway now it accelerates so much better. Even in fifth when your doing 30.

Having the steering tightned has sorted the handling no end.

Oh and on my way home i got my decat fitted too. She was spitting flames at my mates last night! See what people mean by cheapest mod you can do for the biggest effect.

The only downside is that it seems to make a sort of blowing sould like the exhaust has gone. Had it checked for air leaks but there isnt any. What could that be?

check it again for air leaks, i had mine checked @ an exhaust place and they couldnt find one, jus before they dropped the ramp i checked myself and found a small one which they sorted FOC for me

how do you mean, steering tightened ?

As for havin the steering tightned i meant i had the play in the steering sorted and now its handles like a whole different beast! Much sharper and responsive!

how did they do that ?

you had a new rack ?..........column ?

Nah they just took the column out and welded it by the uj joint or something like that. Apparently its really easy to do.

yeah that sorted my old one out a treat! was great after!

decat could be blowing a bit near the joins, tends to happen fairly easily!

Mine sounds more buzzy without the CAT in,a bit like its blowing I suppose!Glad to hear u got it back

That could be it then as you could describe it as Buzzy.

Ive decided im deffo keepin it as its even faster than before at the mo. Bring on the next meet before anything else goes wrong i say!

SiGriffiths - Yep, get flames when the exhaust is warm mate! You back on the road? Youll have to keep an eye out for me as ill be about now. Im probs driving into town on Fri night come to think of it.

Is your car chipped Tom? and do you have a straight through exhaust? Your car must be seriously over fuelled if its spitting flames like that.. esp if your running a std setup. Mine pops and bangs but i unsure it spits flames, thats with a decat, HP Chip, filter and S/S zorst.

Its got a HP chip, ITG Filter, Magnex full system Including decat.

Should i worry? Like i said its only when i have a warm exhaust but it deffo flames. Mate has it on vid on his phone.

Mine flames like a b**ch, ITG panel filter, k-tec de-cat and ss cat back system !!

Flames are cool and not a problem

Ahh thats alright then.

Also with a decat, mines silenced and didnt make much of a difference to the exhaust to start with but it seems to be getting louder. Does that sound right or am i just going mad?

Tom, if you have a HP chip then cool - i didnt know if you was running std or not. Seems like all the hp chips are slight mapped alittle rich round the 4k mark and also towards the higher end of the rev range. Every one i know with a hp chip gets some really good noises coming from the tailend of there valvers/williams. Im yet to see a flame tho

When i get Glenns straight through mid section i should start seeing some flaming action.

Yep its finaly on Northy. Kwic fit wouldnt do it as it says not for road use on it but i got a friendly local mechanic to do it for me.

Not sure on the gearbox number mate. Ill try and find out for ya. The guys at Renatec said it is deffo a valver box but thinks the ratios have been changed as my old box are what they normally look like and these arent the same. He said he had a quick look and they are shorter but he didnt have time to work out by how much. (Said it would take about an hour).


His words were, I get loads of people come in here with there tuned 16vs with cams, chips, headwork and they dont end up being that quick, all i can say about yours is, you put your foot down, it goes!
