valver rad fan

  182
just noticed that my fan dosnt work i can see that it has been rewired before. I noticed that the wiring didnt look original to the temp sensor in the rad so i looked a bit further and found that there is just a constant feed to the fan not sure where the temp sensor wire go but they dont do alot. The fuse was taken out where the feed had been taken from and when i put a fuse in the fan runs constant even with the ignition off.

should i just cut a relay and switch into the feed that is all ready running the fan ?
cut the whole lot out and start again ?

any one got and ideas how to re do this ?

i done electronics at college so have a fair idea of what im doing but not sure about ecu's

cheers luke

There's a fan switch on the left hand side of the radiator if you stand in front of the car, or if you are standing on the drivers side looking in to the engine with the bonnet up then it's on the right hand side. Make sure this is connected and working.

I don't know why the fan has been wired up to constantly run, but if you wire it up to the original cables and ensure the fan switch works then it should run. Having said that, i could be wrong, i'm just guessing. I only know about the switch because a cable snapped off mine and the fan stopped working, which resulted in an overheat and coolant showering everywhere.

You could always take it to a car electronics place, they should know what to do.
