valver using a LOT of water

on apprx a 30 mile journey (15miles each way) its used just short of 7lts of water. It did boil over at one point, and water warning light came on.

its not leaking, as i stopped, and lay under it for good 10mins to see if i could see where it was all going, there is no mayo under the oil cap, and its not smoking.

but where else could teh water go?

Its also as tight as a nuns wotsit, no power at all. is it about to seize???

erm.. well if its not leaking on the floor...and its runin crap then it must be leaking in the engine...which would explain the loss of power...is there no mayo at all..?

try it in the dip stick too

checked the dipstick, oil looks normal. and no mayo on that either.

Fill it upand start it up and watch, that has to be a leak

umm, no there doesnt. it could be a cracked head/block allowing waer into the cylinder and that will be where the water is going.

nope, but when it boiled over, could i have got air in the system then??

if its boiled over its also likely to have warped the cylinder head

Fill her up and get someone to stand behind it. Then start her up and keep her at around 2000 revs, if there is white steam/smoke coming out of the exhaust, then the head gasket has gone, it will also account for loss of power. Its a simple test but unfortunately a costly repair. Good luck.
