I know that anyone who knows someone dodgy working at Renault can get a key fob programmed via your registration no. and therefore get access to your car.

It may keep the code to open the car but not to start it I bet

Wouldn't even open the car.. These things may have worked in the 80's but todays remote's have random codes and never sends the same signal twice.

wtf is a hopping code? Who uses that terminology?

Only rolling codes where used in the late 90's they have gone back to static codes as the transponder keys are now used.

thats what i was trying to find out, if most remote use hopping codes
i should damn well hope so! surely that was the whole point of bringing them into mass use?

If that's true, how come either keyfob will work with your car (ie, normal & spare key).

Surely if it hops, a signal needs to be agreed between the fob, and the car?

I'm interested in how it works... :D
