very loud engine, lots of vibration.... complete car amateur :(

Hi guys

This is my first post, sorry if it's in the wrong place

I have a 56 plate Clio Campus Sport 1.2 16v.

For a few weeks at about 2500+ rev its been really really loud, mostly only above 40mph in gears 3 and above. It vibrates like mad, like a mini foot massage when your hovering over the pedals - I've had my exhaust checked and its definitely not blowing but the noise is getting worse.

I know hardly anything about cars, literally just the basics, so would really appreciate some advice on where to go with this fault and what to expect cost wise to fix it.

Ask me any questions you need to know as I probably haven't given you enough detail...

Does it do it whilst the car is stationary and out of gear?

Can you make the noise get louder by pressing the throttle whilst its in neutral and stationary?

Are there any warning lights on?

Does the vibration go through the whole car or just the pedals?

If you leave the car idling, does the rev counter flick up and down at all? Does it try and stall?

I've heard it could be the engine mount(s)...?

Hi Daniel

It vibrates a bit when out of gear and stationary, nowhere near as loud as accelerating, haven't checked the throttle in neutral & stationary, no warning lights and vibrates mostly through the whole dash as far as I'm aware - makes all the stuff on my dash jiggle about noisily lol... It doesn't try and stall, have sat in it running for over 45 mins while waiting to collect my friend from work. Hope this helps?

So the faster you drive, the faster and louder the vibration gets?

Yeah basically lol, and its been getting noticeably louder over the past few weeks.

I just thought I'd mention because I probably sound a bit daft but I've had the Clio for over a year, driving it every day and the noise is completely brand new and I haven't heard the car make this noise before, don't get me wrong it was never as silent as smooth as a brand new car but I am really worried because it is ridiculously loud and very concerning

If you drive In a Straight line and swerve side to side at a constant speed, does the noise change?

I'll admit I haven't tried that haha, but it's the same changing lanes/going around corners, forgot to mention the noise did start originally when reversing, especially rushed turns in the road?

Sounds like the exhaust is fowling! maybe broken exhaust mount or engine mount?
