VibraTechnics gearbox mount installation issue

  Clio 172
HI all,

Ripped my old oem gearbox mount out of my Clio 172 to find this.

YUP, DEAD!!

I have VibraTechnics Gearbox and Engine mounts ready to go in.

Here is my issue, i get the old oem upper Gearbox mount out and find that the VibraTechnics mount will not fit over the gearbox mount stud.
It seems fine on the threaded part, but stops on the nut section.

It will not go over the nut like section of the stud.

Is there something i am doing wrong??

Any help much appreciated!!

I have not done the drivers side mount yet.
I have a VibraTechnics one to go in but the previous owner had just installed a brand new OEM drivers side mount.

It appears that my Gearbox one is badly manufactured but can not be certain.
The bottom section of the mount, the part that first goes over the Gearbox stud is just too small to fit after the threaded section.
REALLY ANNOYING!!

Will call AT when they open.
i am in Aus so will be about 830pm here.
Hopefully they can shed some light on it.

I had this problem while fitting joes on the rb.. I had to removed the paint from inside the mount and give it a tap on.

The assembly you have taken a picture of is correct also not many threads stick through when torqued up. So don't panic...

Thanks for the replies.

I was worried to tap it on if I could never get it off.

Did you guys just use a rubber mallet?

When fitting I used a long socket on a extension bar and hit with hammer... Make sure socket is same dia as the insert to ensure damage does not occur.

Spoke with Vibra Technics.
Call from Aus to UK prob not real cheap.
Especially on my mobile.
They sounded unsure themselves.

I have measured the hole and it is not 16.5mm.
more like 16mm and nor round.
I found a 16mm round bar in my shed and pursuaded that through, but 16.5 would be quite a stretch.

Needless to say i am not real happy with the product.

I will email VT and let them know with pics that i do not think it is correct.
See what they say.

Thanks for all your help so far.
much appreciated.

Just give it a good hit and it'll go on if not get a 16.5 or 17mm drill bit and put through.

I just pulled the lower bracket out this morning to make it easier to work with.
Here is a video of the issue, as i am sending it to VibraTechnics to explain it better.

The Gearbox stud could also be bent slightly, so i will find a new 16.5mm bolt somewhere today and see if that slides through.
Could explain why a few people have had similar issues.

They are a snug fit, just use a little force... If it was loose the mount would have excessive movement.

When i spoke to Vibra Technics they said no extra force is required.
On further look now that i have the lower mount bracket out, there is a small lip inside the mount.
I will try to just touch that with a dremel and see if i can just make it perfect.

Really appreciate all your help guys!!

Yahtzee!!
