Vibrating gear stick

Hi all.

well i hope im in the right section here.

whilst im driving the gear stick is vibrating..... is this normal?????

any help appriciated.

it does it on a few clios that i know. I think you need to tighten up the bushes to prevent it

I had this problem and it was the ignition coil? It is the wire and head that covers the spark plug. If the engine is rocking then you are misfiring but this is only a guess.

they always vibrate a little, like ya birds dildo, but if there all over the place it could be worn engine mounts, worn linkage, etc..

get under the car and have a poke around..

new spark plugs are required, i had the same problem on the clio 1.2, engine was miss firing. took it to renault monkeys to fix under warranty

I know the JC5 (dci and 172 gearbox) sticks are pretty ... "lively" not sure about the others.

all french cars seem to do this, nearly every clio iv been in has done it and also both my mates 306's do it. so im guessin its pretty normal m8.

yeah my gearknob does it too, its when I change gear (when you come over the biting poin)t or if you come off the accelerator-it has actually been worrying me a bit-any thoughts??

On all early Renault's they have a gearshifter retainer spring on the chassis of the vehicle. This clips onto the floor panel and then onto the gear shifter. It creates a tension between the two which stabilises the vibration / wobbliness of the shifter inside the car.

Im not saying this will cure the fault as it may be something else - its worth a try though

The renault dislogue system is what ou want the only copy for sale is illegal as its renault copyright the install guide is here you cna buy it on ebay usually etc.

Its not upto date it cover Mk2 V6 but not the 182 it does cover the 172 cup though.

Installing the Renault dialogue software/ sort out problems.
