Violent rumbling when idle

A friends clio is rumbling quiet bad when idle and if you dont keep the revs above 2k its stalls, when driving the acceleration is very poor and suddenly kicks in. I thought it might be ignition coils, any suggestions please, they would be much appericiated

When you say a rumble is it more of a vibration through the car or a noise? Once moving does the noise go away? I would personally check all your plugs are fitted tightly and all the leads pushed on and making a good connection. Quite common for clios to "pop" spark plugs out the cylinder head from time to time but hopefully the threads will be okay. Failing that, upload a video if you can of the fault occuring.....
