If you just want the noise, sell the Viper and get a normal open induction kit then...

The whole idea of the Viper is for the cold air feed to be fitted!

Basically the viper give more power because it is a sealed unit, preventing much hot air getting inot it, unfortunatly on small engines this does not make any noise. If you want noise you will need to get an open induction kit, unfortuanly thos will get rid of any power gains wiht teh Viper, if you put plently of cold air feed to the open IK then you shouldnt loose any power. What i was told is that the power gains to be had wiht a viper are too small to be noticed on something like a 1.2, so you are better off getting a K&N and putting about 4 cold air feeds to it

How do you even position it how you have?! Maybe the 172 is different but I have a big fan just behind the radiator and in the top corner where your feed appears to go I have a solid lump of plastic?!

If you look at where the original airbox gets its feed from - i.e. to the side of the light, youll notice a gap and a bit of metal that channels air from the corner of the grill, round to it.

Have you tried routing it round to the lower grill behind the bumper? surely thats gotta give you maximum air flow and in theory maximum noise?

if you wanted the noise you should have bought a conventional open induction kit.i doubt the viper although being enclosed would have gained you a deal anyway.if you take the cold air feed off you might as well as saved a £100 and bought an open induction kit in the first place.
