viper v hillpower

FF Black 182 + Cup Packs
got a K&N at the mo, thinking of changing to a closed filter.
The hillpower looks soooo good and the vipers not too bad either.
Which one would you chose? and pics of the viper on a 182 would be great too

Picture of mine when it was on my 172, essentially the same as the 182.

The viper sound is amazing: a video of it in action:

Could you please elaborate???? What is gonna break on the Hill Power, the Unit on mine is top quality and looks far better than a Maxogen....IMO. The CAF may be a little fragile if not fitted with care, but the £170 saved over buying the Maxogen will easily cover replacing in the future with some Venair CAF.

Probably not, but he did'nt have to go to the moon to know it was'nt made of green cheese.

Go to pirtek and get some DPPL master PUR-L or DPPM master PUR-H, they wont break or wear holes.

i'd opt for function over looks anyday, but then again imo the maxogen has it nailed in both departments :D

Is there anything on paper that proves the Maxogen performs any better than a standard airbox or any other IK. I'll let the RR do the talkin when I get my Re-Map;)

where u getting it rolling roaded fella ? curious as im searching for one but there aint any good uns near me!

i think im going to hold out for paul dyno dynamics at rstuning :)

would be interesting to see how all that metal shielding effects the hillpower as one thing ive found with the maxogen is that all that lovely carbon stays nice and cool after even the hardest of runs :)

Had a chat with Paul at RS Tuning in Leeds, hoping to go up there once he's got the RR fiited and get a b4 and after RR with Re-Map.
When I got car it was fited with Viper. I paid a visit to Nick at Hill Power and we had a bit of a chat about the various mods on Clio's. He explained how the heat shielding on the IK is the same as Renault use on the exhaust and the importance of a good CAF. I believe these are more important than any other factor. If the Maxogen was a definite advantage I would have gone for it, but I don't think there will be much difference in it.
When you thinking of getting your re-map?

the cars all set for the rolling road fella :) had the remap when paul was offering them at a bargain price last year

would be good if a few of us could head up to his gaff and get rolling roads and remaps done together :D

to be fair i rekon the hillpower is the best alternative to the maxogen as its design seems to be a lot better than the vipers and open kits!

i would never pay the asking price for a maxogen and would probably have got a hillpower myself if i hadnt struck it lucky with finding the maxogen for the price i paid :)

It would be good to have a RR/Re-map day. Maybe it would be worth having a word with Paul and maybe getting a thread up gauging interest. Probably would need to find out what numbers could be done in a working day...so a proper unrushed job could be done on all cars. What do you think??

i asked paul about a rolling road day and he said he would set up something with a nice cs discount when the road gets delivered :D

it only takes him about half and hour to sort the map out so i rekon if we get a litlle convoy of say 5-10 cars sorted and head up in the morning (when its cooler ;)) we could probably all get a few runs in and whoever needs maps doing can have them as well :D

He's hoping the RR will be in on the 15th June. 5-6 weks away. Do you think it's worth having a word with him and then get a thread going, gauging interest and say limit of 10 cars, first come first served basis with a reserve list if anyone drops out? I'm defo in for B4 & after with Re-Map, been given a price already, be nice if cheaper with RR day.

ITG Maxogen v's Standard airbox.

http://www.itgairfilters.com/downloads/clio172.pdf

Seems to gain ~8bhp in the upper midrange.... but this is without altering the fueling, and probably making the car run slightly lean.... which is good for releasing more power with a remap.

I wouldn't pay £400 for one. I paid £300 for mine, brand new. Which compared to other kits on the market isn't actually that much for a carbon fibre airbox. I wouldn't recommend anyone getting an induction kit on it's own unless you're just after the noise. They're only worthwhile with other mods, a remap in particular.

A worthwhile result against a Standard Airbox;) , which you woukld expect with the claims and £400.
For comparisson against others we would need other results for IK's. So at mo it's justified against standard.

I went with the Maxogen on the advice of BenR, many moons ago. But like I said, I didn't (and wouldn't) pay £400 for one. They're a fantastic bit of kit but £400 for an induction kit on a Clio is just plain silly. lol.

At the time I had some spare cash and managed to get a new one for £300, which when you consider it comes with silicon elbow with one piece breather which I beleive you have to buy seperately with all the others, and none have the breather in one piece.

The Hillpower on seemed expensive for something Nick has made himself. Although Nick is fantastic at what he does I fail to see how he can compete with a company the size and reputation of ITG. His only chance would habve been if his I/K was considerably cheaper.... which for me it wasn't!
