Anybody got the superhub 3, if so what do you think of it? I'm not sure if it's better than the 2 it replaced.

It's supposedly craptastic. Lots of bugs.

I was one of the original testers for the 2 and currently have a 2a which is the best of the bunch.

So I've had it over a month now, got to say it's not buggy at all, it's been faultless unlike the superhub 2 which it replaced

People are moaning like f**k about it over on the virgin forums!

The 2 had terrible WiFi issues, they were fixed in the 2ac though.

  Cayman S Edition 1
I've got one but still use my apple airport for wifi. Wired downloads are insane though:)

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
I went to a 2 recently when they upgraded me 210MB, i only use it in modem mode though as i use an ASUS RT-AC87U for WiFi/routing/VPN.

I've recently upgraded my VM again. They now do a 'gamer' package with 20mb upload and no traffic management at all.

Here's my speeds now!

Well chuffed!

If you don't mind me asking how much is that. I upgraded to vivid100 but the upload speed is the same 5 mb be interested to know what the upload upgrade. Feel free to tell me to naff off if I'm being too nosey:wink:

I'm not entirely sure yet, I've not had the first bill. I was on TiVo, phone and BB, but dropped the TiVo for Sky Q.

I'm expecting £30-40 for phone and BB

My 2ac is crashing all the time in modem mode, I'm loathed to "upgrade" to the 3 because of the puma 6 chipset bug (latency + packet loss).

why can't they just let us use whatever cable modem we f**king want instead of hawking the bug riddled s**t they have approved onto us.

Because then their config file encrypting would be become a ball ache for them.

There's little point in them doing that anyway as their CMTS units can detect incorrect (hacked) configs and cloned macs (this was an issue way back when they switched to docsis 3).

You should just be able to phone up, give them the MAC address (as you do anyway when you get a replacement) and they set that as the enabled mac on their network.

Maybe in 10 years when we finally get 3.1 they'll allow it, maybe not. Maybe they'll still be pushing half baked hardware/software that the testers tell them is crap but they release anyway!

I'm on my third hub since I joined 6 months ago. I've also had 2 engineers out. Both times they said the line is fine and just replaced the hub. The hub just randomly crashes then comes back on a few minutes later. I'd love to be able to use my own hub

Well the Superhub 3 has arrived, so far it hasn't crashed in modem mode, that's a plus point.

But "the PUMA6 bug" is terrible and it would seem that Intel & Arris cannot fix it.

Check out the jitter on ping!

And here's the 24 hour graph from the TBB BQM monitor, firstly superhub 2ac. (downtime was when the 2ac did its crash)

And here's the 24 hour graph from the 24 hours with the SH3. (downtime here was when my connection regraded to 200Mbit)

I should say that I have no contention issues here and always get a nice solid speed and can max out the connection, the "peak time bump" you can clearly see on the 2ac plot but it's invisible on the 3 plot because the latency is so bad all the time.

Surely there has to be a 3b version in the works because anybody playing games on this (and they sell gamer connections which incidentally you have to have a SH3 to activate) is going get frustrated very quickly.

Here's the speed test taken right now from my Mikrotik router. (As above, SH3 is in "modem" aka bridge mode)

I recently switched from sky broadband to BT. I was downloading films from sky at around 4mb and was having to wait until the next day to watch them. Sky did sweet f all to rectify the problem so I spotted an offer with BT which is the hub and 50meg. I think its £28 a month for the first year.
Really happy with it so far.
