Vista RC2

my RC1 disks dropped thru the letterbox this morning courtesy of Micro$oft, new builds are coming out way to fast for me to keep up. Having issues with sound atm and al sorts, grrr.

MAC OS means nothing since it will work on a PC now and is fairly easy to setup. And also windows will work on a mac. So basically now mac owners really are just paying for the fancy case.

I need to format mine later i may give vista a go now sure yet.

4 hours to go for it to finish, do I presume that you can use the same code as for the previous versions?

When is the final version out?

These still test beta versions?

This is the last release before RTM so the next time you'll see Vista will be when it's on general sale.

Good start, had BSOD before it actually went into Windows for the first time, something about USB then I got a dump of physical memory.

Suprised how different to RC1 it is already.

can anyone download this new build?
Yes, you'll need a product key for it but I'm not sure where you get this now as I've been using the same one for sometime now.

so any one got any thoughts on the new build..a small review would be nice:) am thinking of downloading it my self..

Here is the best place for a review when he does it.

I seems better finished off then the previous releases and it took me all of 20-25 mins to install it from downloading it so it's quite quick doing that. It's not bad but it's going to take a while to get used to it and make people switch over from Windows XP.

One of the features I like is the intergration of music sharing over a network as I can access the music from the other computers on my network very easily with the new feature.

Without a bigger screen I think it might be a pain to have the side bar with the gadgets.

It does seem to keep itself working quite nicely which again is intergrated, such as scheduled defraging of your drives.

Still no drivers for my ATi Radeon 9600 TX, so I've never been able to use glass, or play any games more than the graphic quality of Solitaire!

Other than that it does look more complete than previous versions that I have tried, which it should be seen as it is nearly RTM.

Not a fan of the whole security on it though, it asks you permission for what seems like every exe file you execute. When you use super user permissions in something like Linux I don't seem to notice it as much, and I'm not even a big user of Linux. Also with the fact that you can turn it off so easy doesn't looks good, in the way of stopping viruses.

^^ ati have had vista beta drivers for ages on thier site. Im on a 9800 pro and not having any probs.

Installed those, with the full 150mb download and still no luck, I must be doing something wrong!

It just shows me a popup in the notification area saying "Incompatible display adaptor has been disabled" every since I've installed the ATi drivers.

I'm running it at the moment. Only issues i've had so far is Messenger freaking out on occassion and Kaspersky being blocked.

Couple of questions:

What AV/Firewall has anyone managed to get working with it and also has anyone successfully managed to get a dualboot menu up and running; if so how?
