Vista Shared Drives

Right I have got a 500gb seagate external HDD, connected via SATA connection. Does anyone know how to set the share properties so it keeps the settings.

For example I turn the HDD on then click on the drive and enable the share so it appears on my network, but I have to do this everytime I turn the HDD on.. any ideas?

I believe shares can only be set permanently on static drives. I assume it's formatted NTFS?
