Want some 45's for my valver......

  1.8 16v Turbo Mk1
I have a clio 16v ph2 and im sort of on a bit of a budget of about £1000 but i want some extra power so....................... i was thinking carbs as a cheap and cheerful way to do this, but ive never seen or heard of one one on carbs before and was wondering if you fellas could give me some helpful hints and tips! has anyone on here done it before?

cheers all help & advice appreciated.

dunno much about them either personally... my mate however is a carb expert but doesn't come on here anymore.

you'll need to speak to 2 live on www.williamsclio.co.uk as this is something that he's going to be doing to the F7 at some point... soon

iv seen a 1.8 on carbs before at york. he claimed 230bhp but was running mid 15's 1/4 mile!

for a grand, id get an F7R, cams, chip sorted!

hmm, yeah sounds more like a breathed on valver than one with carbs... I dont really remember much about my XR2 as it was my first car and that long ago, but I remeber being VERY disappointed when the twin 45's throttle cable went and with it being attached to the carb or some crap like that it couldn't be fixed... so had to go back to std... was never the same, bout half as fast, really sucked... :(

I'd like to see what this does if you go that route, would potentially be amazing.

this is just my opinion but putting carbs on and taking the injection off is going back in time, injection is precise fuelling and carbs just ar'nt plus you'll have to have it setup now and again, and the fuel economy will be shocking

^^agreed.

Given the fact that putting TB's on a std 1.8 will be lucky to gain 30bhp means you'll get even less with carbs...and at the expense of reasonable fuel consumption. For 1k you could 2ltr it with cams which would be far better use of the money IMO...that'll net you 20-30bhp anyway.
