Want to put a TOM TOM sat nav from a CLIO MK3 into my I-Music clio MK3 that does not have Sat nav

  Clio MK3 i-music
Hi there,

I have just brought a 2010 clio mk3 1.2 I-Music car for my son.
Was wondering if anyone could help me and let me know if it is possible to fit a SAT NAV - TOM TOM from a clio MK3 into the vehicle and will it work?

Any help would be super. This is my current set up on the picture

You'll need the loom and associated gubbins to retrofit the satnav unit. Unless you pull it all out yourself or know all the bits are there, it's a pointless and expensive exercise.

You would be far better off replacing the standard stereo for something with android auto or apple car play and using Waze/Google Maps for nav instead.

I’ve done this with my Clio R27. Basically I bought a Tom Tom satnav and satnav housing off someone on eBay. Basically it’s a retro fitted satnav in the housing.

The next plan would be to buy the Garmin 65 Alexa and modify the housing to hold it within. Also to flock the housing to tidy it up a bit.

I've just fitted a touch screen and other bits in the housing and have apple carplay/android auto. I've also made a version where my iPhone sits in the housing (with a wireless charger) and fills the front gap like it came out of the factory like that.

Some other people have fitted tablets (have a look on youtube).

This is the best direction to go in rather than fitting an outdated satnav.

ETA: If you still want to go ahead with your original plan, have a look at this link: https://clio197.net/threads/satnav.25757/

No change of wiring. Just the power supply cable ran down to the cigarette lighter and that’s it. I could piggy back it off the cig lighter fuse point in the dash with a hardwire kit. But I can’t be arsed at the moment. 😊

I’m wanting to do this so can you provide a little more information on what you sourced. I have a Black 197 that I replaced the Renault standard radio (Update List) with an Android head unit. The problem is you can only get 9” screens and it is just too large for the poor little Clio dash and sticks up into the lower windscreen view by about 2-3”. I recently just got myself a specced up Monaco Blue one (which in Australia was called the premium pack - Xenons, sunroof & upgraded stereo incl 6 stacker CD). I feel very retro nostalgic with the 6 CD stacker and the sound from the radio (Cabasse auditorium) is amazing so I'm keen to keep the original setup. Having said that I would like built in GPS as opposed to screen shared Carplay or Android auto as I don't alway have service in country areas. I also don't use an Android head unit anywhere near the capacity. As long as I can use GPS, keep the Renault info and answer phone calls that’s all I really need. So yes I understand there are much better systems out there than these factory units but to me the low profile original look is worth it.
I have seen a few models around. One that has a TE (Tyco) plug that goes straight into the back of the Ecran unit. This Tyco plug looks to be the same 24 pin one that connects to the Johnstone control box on a standard display. The other looks to have a seperate Johnstone controls box that maybe screws to the firewall or somewhere remotely????
Any advice to buy the right gear would be appreciated.

Actually it looks like the Johnson Controls module clicks into the frame under the screen. How then does this connect tot he screen? They both seems to have the same 24 pin TE connector so I guess maybe it loops into / out off one of them?
