Warranty Question

  Silver 182 F/F
Just booked my car in for it's first service at 12k and 15 months old,and told the dealer that the CD player was not working,
hoping to get it fixed under warranty. To be told that the audio system is only guaranteed for twelve months.

Does anyone know if this is the case and is this the norm with other manufactures or are Reno just rubbish..:dapprove:

Well I've just had my CD player replaced under warranty and my car is nearly 2 years old so that's crap! They replaced it with a reconditioned one which works perfectly.

Maybe it depends on the dealer..

I'd be happy if they'd do that, the car is going in a couple of months when my new car arrives.just wanted to make sure when i traded it it the stereo worked so they did'nt knock me any money off...

Its covered there talking rubish.
Evn if it wasn't under the rule its not fit for purpose if it fails that quick so it would be covered.

Is it me, or do there seem to be very conflicting stories from different dealers across the country? I've seen several threads on here recently where one dealers says something isn't covered and then another dealer says it is. Surely a warranty is a warranty!? :S

Your supposed to take it in on what comes first though, 12k or 1 year, they could say your warranty is void...

Dealers don't want the problem of trying to claim so make up there own stored or amke it difficult for any work to be done.

Its 12k or 2 years the warently book is wrong if you want more info contact Renault UK. Even if it hadn't been serviced correctly the radio etc isn't affected since correct servicing would have no impact on the working of the radio.

I had the rear speakers in an old clio replaced when that was almost 3 years old.. so the actual stereo... surely thats covered.

From reading various threads on here, it seems, what dealers will & will not do varies wildly from place to place..
luckily my local dealer seems to be pretty good. (touch wood.. cross fingers etc....)

Rang another local dealer today to see what they said, they told me it was covered, but they get sent away for repair..But ready for this the last couple took two months to come back, no stereo for two months:banghead:

Do you know anyone else locally who has a 182 and has an after market H/U, ask if you could borrow their original 182 H/U if yours has to go away.

My dealer fitted a tape player (!) while they waited for the new one to be delivered. It took about a week and a half but at least I had a radio to listen to!

Norris were always good mate. renault keep changing there policy on this before it was any car under 12 months old radio would be replaced any over 12 months would be sent away for repair. this went down to any car under 4 months old would have new radio and over 4 months repaired, i think its gone back up to 12 months, and plus theres a new system where you get codes off the radio enter it in over the internet and they will tell you there and then whats happening. at out place they normally send a exchange radio with in 2 days and then yours goes back to them.
