not a lot of people know this wee bit of advice but my uncle is the gaffer at my local arnold clark

if you dont have a trade in you are entitled to 10% off the windscreen price

sell the seat privately, you will also get a lot more than a garage will offer you for it

but as one person said its not the right time for bargaining, try the end of the month if you can wait when hopefully he will be struggling to meet sales figures and will bite youre hand off when you offer him £9.500 plus the seat, then tell him you want a full tank of go-go juice

if you ever watch top gear then youll know all garages are open to a bit del boy style wheeling and dealing so stick to youre guns and dont fall for his salesman patter

try to be better at buying a car than he is at selling them!

Just got an insurance quote, 19, 2 years NCD, 1148 fully comp! in my own name, surely its a mistake! lol

yeah know what your saying mate, my dad used to work in car sales, so he has gave me a good bit of advice, and is probably better at haggling anyway, so he says if i like it, he'll come along with me this weekend to help me get a good deal.. i'll ask him today about if i dont trade in my car.. cheers for the advice

ok, i just spoke to one of the salesmen, goin in at about 4pm hopefully. he said its actually done 10800 miles, which i didnt expect.. maybe seems a bit pricey now.. but he said they maybe willing to move on the price

defo under £12k if it's on nearly 11k miles

you could get one for under £10k a bit older on the same mileage

incidentally, arnold clark offer servicing for life for about £300 anyway I think, but are perhaps not the best people to be servicing your car... they're alright when it comes to fixing things when you tell them the problem, but they arent so great at fault finding IMO.

my friend was in looking for a car today and we bumped into a brand new '55' 182 in inferno red. Now this is the car i was really wanting when i bought my ibiza, but i couldnt afford it at the time. It was priced at £12999 and i would be trading my ibiza in against it, (hopefully £2k) and paying the rest, which i think i could afford.

does this prices seem about right? how much would i be looking at paying for it a month over 4 years? any advice would be great!

This was your first post.

'Brand new '55 plate.

Now its got 10,800 miles on it, its deffo second hand, and high mileage second hand at that.

yeah i know, i didnt really have a look at it the other day.. anyways, just had a test drive in it, didnt get much of a chance to nail it, it was pouring with rain, but i noticed it was quite nippy compared to my ibiza.. felt like i was driving a 106gti, same sorta feeling through the wheel.. got him down to £11,100, including mats, full tank, 12 months tax, and changin my reg plate over.. what you all think now?

heres a pic

I dont think its too bad of a price, considering the free servicing. I would expect that if someone was selling that privately they would want 10k and you have to expect to pay 1k more from a franchised dealer. If your happy with it go for it as at the end of the day its you who is buying it

Good luck

yeah, the free servicing package is what i'd want. will see if they can knock another £500 then i will probably get it.. cheers

^^^ Go for it, its does sounds like a good deal, with the free servicing..

Just try your luck on the £500 off. See if they will budge...

I wouldn't pay more than 12k for it with the free servicing. Its a 55 plate, its now on 06, so it must be a pre registered car, so you'll be second owner on the V5, the dealer being the first. So it will be brand new but not on paper. So don't think your getting a bargin at £12995.

^^^^ Not true ^^^^

I bought my new 182 5 weeks ago . I had the option of registering then or taking it home on trade plates , puttin it in the garage , waiting a few weeks and having an 06 plate . I couldn't do without a car for that long so its on a 55 plate with me being the only name on the log book .

11K tops minus your trade in of at least 2K try for 2.5k for yours .

Read the small print on the servicing , ask plenty of questions , find out what the free servicing actually covers , does it cover parts and labour ??

yeah the free servicing included labour, filters, oil changed etc.. but doesnt include consumables (sp).. turns out they werent willing to budge on the price, maybe due to the time of the month, so just left it. have found a new one in england for £11200 online, so think i might go see it!
