Washed and all

  Clio 1.2 16v
Well, washed my car using good old Autoglym

Sprayed down to clear excess dirt first

Then used 2 bucked method & good old AG Shampoo and Conditioner

Then dried

Then applied wheel cleaner to the wheels, they have come out amazing...

Then used AG Super Resin Polish, left on for 30 mins and buffed with a microfibre cloth

Then applied AG EGP, left on for 30 mins, and buffed with a microfibre cloth

ARGHHH then it rained!!

It looks amazing though, just going to do the inside

I love this forum, full of annoying people and getting worse by the day... why come into a detailing thread if you don't want to read a story (albeit a short one) about detailing?

Unlucky dude, 'tis always the way that you put in a hard days work and then it rains on it! Still, at least it's protected.

How do you find the AG Shampoo? Never really been a fan as it doesn't foam up enough for my liking. Oh, and yeah, there isn't much point keeping SRP on - just work in and wipe off excess.

I kept it on for 30 mins because i had to walk to tesco and get a microfibre cleaning cloth lol! the AG shampoo is good, but not foamy at all. What do you use?

Meguirs shampoo (the purple one?! lol) is possibly the BEST shampoo in the world!!

I clean 2/3 cars per day and i've still only used half a bottle after nearly 3 weeks! it lasts for ages and soaps up soooo much.

ah cool, will have to try that next weekend.

My mate used 'paint restorer' on his meggy. it came out a treat. Apparently rips the top layer of paint off though :s

I'm a big fan of Megs Gold Class - not found anything as good yet.

Apparently Hyper Wash is very good too...

And don't worry about the paint restorer 'ripping' the paint off. I'm not sure how abrasive it is but it won't do too much damage! Even the most abrasive polishes can be used without too much concern for wearing down the clearcoat.

There is no real benefit to leaving the SRP on for mins, anything you buff off is just wasted product. Work a panel at a time and work it until it has gone.

The Paint Renovator is a fairly aggressive polish, like any poilsh mild or harsh the way polish works is by removing paint or clearcoat. It however is -Old fashioned in make up akin to T Cut in that it keeps cutting with the same strength no mater how hard or long you work it. Use with care as it will strike through the clearcoat even by hand !!!! It also tends to install very fine hazy marks that you need to use Super Resin to remove.

All of the Megs Shampoos are ok, The purple NXY cleans well but is harsh on waxes and sealants, the main benefit of the Shampoo Plus and Hyper Wash is they are damn cheap in bulk compared to the consumer ones.

Ouch.

Cleaned my new Golf for the first time today. It definitely needs a proper machine polish, but I now know the reason I was so set on a getting a black car - looks gorgeous!

And, interestingly, even working with clay and polish by hand, the 'solidity' and feel of the German paint is much tougher than on the Clio's.
