Washing Machine Smell. Argh.

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
After washing my microfibres/towels etc, there seems to be a lingering smell in the washing machine. It smells like car products, and is only there after I use the washing machine so it's 100% me unfortunately.

Any way to combat this? I use special washing tablet things with no conditioner etc that are meant for microfibres, I don't put applicators in there, I hand wash those.

I have been told to find a way round it or take them to a launderette. Which simply, I'd rather not. It's been claimed that the next wash after my car stuff, makes the clothes smell like polish.

Idea's?

Interesting. Never had this. Would suggest buying some Dr Beckmann washing machine cleaning fluid - two types, one that cleans deposits of limescale and scum, another than kills bacteria. That should get rid of the smell.

The smell generally only hangs around for the next wash, then goes away. Almost like it's leaving a residue behind that gets washed out after a while. Awkward though as I do a wash like this every weekend, so it's quite often. :(
JD - May look into something like that. Cheers

Run the washin machine on rinse after with nothing in it, not that mine ever does this and I do at least one microfibre wash a week.

@RyG i may try giving my microfibres a good rinse beforehand and see if that makes it any better, doesn't help when you've got the other half wingeing that the machine smells like polish!
