Watching films off the PS3 on PC screen

I've got a PS3 and i've got a set of X-static 5.1 headset which i use for gaming, i recently got a new 23" screen which has a HDMI port which is now pluged in to the PS3, how do i watch the films of the PS3 on the screen is there any setting i need to do?

i dont want to mess up any settings to do with my headset, also i want to have the sound not through my headset but of my 5.1 speakers that i use for my PC.

whats the headset got to do with anything lol, i fail to see how it fits in,

get an optical cable off ebay and connect the ps3 to the 5.1 if it supports optical which it should, and there is a setting on the ps3 that changes the output from the crappy wires to HDMI, forgot where it is but ull b able to find it...
