Water temp high

My water temp keeps getting high recently when im stationary or in slow moving traffic, and it over heated the other day, waht can it be?

-fan not working?

-thermostant knackered?

Any other ideas? if so how do i check them, DIY to solve or a garage job?

mines started doing the same, when was the radiator last flushed through? should be every 2 years at least, and also top ups ? if the expansion bottle is a nasty rusty colour, you could try that , thats my plan any way - nice new clear expansion bottle from reno is 24 quid, looks good! Haynes has a section on it in if you fancy a go, had a look the other day, need a hose pipe, water and hands th esize of a two year old!! good luck!!

Na mine was flushed last service, bout 2k miles ago. Anyone know at what temp level on the dash dial the fan kicks in at?

ah, let me know how you get on as mine is going up toward the top and then wil drop as it passes the second bar, needs a flush though so assuming it is that!
