Waxes and Washing Machines..

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
Hi,

Wondering if I could get some opinions, as I'm struggling to find anything online.

I have always washed pretty much everything I use (Cloth/mitt wise) on my car, in the washing machine. And have had 0 problems at all.

I have a friend who has said you shouldn't use the washing machine for car bits, and has to do them by hand..

He said it will coat the insides of the washing machine with Wax. And the shampoo/polish etc is bad for it,and it could break.

I can't find anything online at all that we can show him its safe, so wondering if anyone here can help?

I'm sure some people say stuff like this to sound like they know something other people don't.
My missus mum and dad are the same.
They say some crazy s**t. Along these sort of lines. I'm gob smacked sometimes. But it's comical. So I go along with it. I've never had any problem with washing in the washing machine. Been doing it for 6-7 years. Same machine!

Ideally I'm looking for something online that says definitively whether its harmful or not, but I can't think how it would be

my parents do this... my dad in particular... 'oh yeah i have installed the latest version of apple to your i-phone, not the one released to the public but one that isn't due out for another 3 months because I am a certified apple technician' - he isn't...

So you've had no problems but you're asking if you're going to have problems?

I'd guess you're going to continue to have zero problems.

So presume he doesn't wash anything with grass/oil/food stains either...

Waxes will be broken down the heat and detergent used. That's the whole idea.

No, read thread correctly.

I did.

You asked if there was going to be any issues washing car mitts/pads in the machine, even though you do already and you haven't had any issues. I said you will continue to have zero issues.

If you do however find out that your washing machine breaks down / bursts into flames / runs into your room at 3am and tries to rape you, and you find the route cause is some leftover Dodo Juice on your pads, please let me know and i'll eat my hat.

Thanks ;)
