Webcam - House security

Do any of you guys use a web cam for security purposes. I'm thinking about setting one up to watch the front of the house. I would like to upload to the net so I can check the house from where ever I am.

Problem is I need some sort of wireless option as PC and Router is downstairs, webcam would need to be upstairs.

I'm considering buying a wireless webcam (Linksys £120), Or can I get a cheap wireless router and attach a cabled webcam to that and upload the images to the net that way?????

As you can tell I aint got a clue what I,m doing :S so any help would be cool.

Webcams are often well too low a resolution to be useful.

Get a proper security cam if you can.. preferably with night vision.

I think the wireless webcam's are slightly better as they are more designed for security use, but a proper one will always win!
