Weeping gasket - 182

  Cooper S JCW
There appears to be some oil weeping from the gasket between the upper plenum and the lower inlet - my 182 is still under warranty for another month. Is it worth going in for this?

I will be fitting a polished plenum in a few weeks anyway and was going to chnage the gaskets then!

I suppose it was just in case there was another problem!

Any opinions?

if its just the join between the plenium and inlet then i would try taking off the plenum checking the gasket and then putting it back on. it could be something simple like the bolts not being tight enough or summut?

when u put the polished one on i would get a new gasket tho as they are compression gaskets so technically should be replaced every time you take off the plenium

  A4 oil burner !!!
I had the same oil weeping on my 172cup and they cleaned it up and replaced the gasket etc under warranty. No oil weeping since !!

I can't see any oil anywhere else so it must just be that. I didn't want to change it and then have Renault say that I have voided the warranty if it is something else

maka - gaskets needed - plenum crush gasket/throttle body gasket - any others?

when i fitted my inlets i just needed the gaskets for between the plenum and inlet and the bottom part of the inlet and the main bit of the engine

so if you were just swapping the plenum for the polished one then you only need the 1 gasket

Thanks maka - new plenum gasket bought - no throtle body gasket needed

I will be getting an oil change along with some other bits at my local garage on wednesday. If they find that oil is coming from anywhere else then it will be into to Renault as I've only got weeks left on my warranty!

get it into renault asap, could be a rocker cover leak which is about a £700 job (you'll get a free cambelt change too)

Looks like it is coming from the rocker cover gasket so I've booked it in with Renault next week. It has a month left of warranty. The car is on 21k miles. The 12k service was done by an independent garage - will that affect the warranty cover?

Just spoke to the technician and they have replaced the upper plenum gasket and the sump gasket and they are going to retest it for leaks now - if they damage my wheels on the test drive heads will roll!
