I noticed my 172 has this funny clicking/tapping sound around 2000-3000rpms (probably most audible around 2800, but its not noticeable unless u are deliberately trying to hear for it). I don't get the sound on idle, and after 3000, not sure if the noise goes away or is deafened by the engine induction.
I opened the bonnet and revved the car to hear where it was coming from, and it seems to be in the place where the dephaser pulley is located.
I have had a search on here for the the dephaser problem, but mine doesn't sound like that or is anywhere near as loud, and the vids on here seem to show the noise on idle, which mine doesn't do. Any ideas?
