weird whistling noise

Hi!

I have a problem with my 172 that started couple of months ago. When driving, there is an unbareable whistling or creaking noise coming from the rear end. It seems to apprear when i let the steering wheel loose. If i turn the steering wheel to the left of to the right, the sound dissapears. I have had my brakes checked, rear brake pads replaced and nothing seems to help. Might there be some sort of a problem with power steering or lack of oil somewhere? lol :dead:
Can it be a common problem for a Renault ?

Wheel bearing?

However saying that it should get louder as you go round corners.

I don't think its bearings because the sound is of a very high note. Bearings are lower :/

It won't be a belt bearing if it's from the rear of the car, and if it stops whilst turning.

I bet its a wheel bearing if its the rear. Have another check where its coming from.

Usually whistling is belt idlers or the clutch thrust bearing.
