Wet Boot :/

  PH2 172
Hi all, not sure if this is the right section but seems appropriate.

Basically, have had abit of a weird smell in the car the past few days, and whilst looking for something for my mum this morning i opened the boot, and rummaged under the foam sheet thing i have keeping it nice and clean. Problem is, it seemed very damp underneath, and im guessing this is whats causing the strange smell.

Didnt have time to investigate but will do after work, but any ideas what it could be?

One of your boot seals isn't sealing properly, might need boot catch adjustment, test it by closing boot fully then pull up and down on it to see if there's any play.Is there a hole in your boot well?

Could also be coming up under the isofix bar too maybe? Long shot though as mines got two holes there and nothings come through, could just be your unlucky though.

Could also be the rear light or one of the grommets in the boot, thats where mine leaked from

may be condensation from the back window running down the inside of the boot lid making the floor wet. i had this. keep the aircon on stops condensation.

Mine had this issue recently.

Turns out the door sill drainage points were blocked, so they had filled up with water, this had them got into the car.

Trophy now smells like a wet dog.

Clio's don't have boots btw. Tailgates lol. :rasp:

Water cannot travel upwards.

My guess would be from the rear light cluster or the gromet just next to it.

Remove the rear light, check and put it back in, sometimes they get removed and not put on 100% and then they let water in.

As what st3ve said, I had this, and in mine it was the little hole above the light cluster, where the rubber block thing that is attached to the tailgate either side, wasn't covering the hole properly when I closed the tailgate. If that makes sense lol.
