129mph in my mk1 ph1 clio 1.4S, chasing my mates mk1 ph3 clio 1.4S Maxim, on the m65 just past blackburn.. coming back from bolton cruise
uh huh. sure ya did.

As a once only "see what it can do", my mk1 172 managed 143mph measured with GPS, down a very, very steep hill! Thought the car was going to shake itself to bits. Not an entirely pleasant speed to travel at in a Clio.

98mph - beat that!!

Thats as fast as I got in my 1.2 once, before I ran out of road, it took about 5 mins to get to that speed too.

Im sure I could break the ton if I took it on a bigger road, but I cant be arsed and dont see the point risking my licence.

180 mph in my clio 1.1 was racing me mates nova 1.1. these post piss me off. my old 205 gti 1.9 would only do 130 and theirs people on here doing mach 10 in their 1.2s lol i would recomend getting ya speed calibrated if i was u lot. must say ur doing 30 mph when infact ya parked.

Yawn! :sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep:

120mph on the long straight at bedford autodrome.

148 on the flat and still pulling, clocked by gps, Fred was in the car, so was the spare wheel/toolkit and some random crap - so not striped bare, and it was pulling like a train - still another 1000 on the revs to go too - if only I had a bigger private strip to run it on.

Its the speed indicator on their radar detector (e.g. origin b2) but sounds like sh*te to me. The readout is pretty small and if you were driving a clio at 130+, the last thing youd be doing is looking at the GPS ... the road more like, if your daft enough to do that speed not on a track!

OMG are you for real? it takes a split second to look at it, and mine is in a very easy to view spot and is a large display, anyway, Fred was reading the gps had to give him something to read in order to distract him from the cars rushing by us LoL

I have had my 172 on the rev limiter (7000rpm) in 5th so that makes it something like 143mph ish doesnt it?

It felt totally solid at that and like it could have gone more .

You mean like women (Not all) when they are playing GT3 on PS3 and when the car turns they develop this need to learn and steer their hands in that direction

LOL GPS is the future, everyone knows you cant trust a dial speedo. My wifes Yaris T-Sport supposedly does a ton in fairly short order when youre on the dual carriageway - until side by side comparison with my Clio and GPS as well shows that its actually more like 92mph. When youre doing 145mph the needle doesnt go round that quickly that you cant glance at the GPS readout to see what youre doing. Its only below 100mph where it doesnt really update quick enough to be any good. Once youre over the ton, and acceleration is a little bit more of an effort, GPS is perfectly accurate.

I got to !40 indicated (speedo) once in my 172 and withouout a fat bloke or a couple of bags of sand in the boot I wouldnt have wanted to go much quicker tbh. It started to feel very light, but there was a bit of a cross wind which probably didnt help.

The speedo on the 172s is fairly accurate. Anything up to about 120mph speedo reading, it seems to be about 3mph out. At 140mph its about 4 - 5mph out. Not that bad IMO
