What are the best Coilovers for a Mk2 172?

As above.

I've been looking at getting some H&R coilovers, and i was wondering if they would be a good choice, and worth the money?

Cheers Fletcher:D

  Turbos.
Best isn't defined by budget ;)

The best are Ohlins. You can get 2-way dampers from them. Don't think anyone has them on here though

I had H&R's on my 172 and I now have them on my 182. I've been through other coilovers when I first got my 182 (H&R's werent available at the time) and springs and have driven a few other variants of spring/damper/coilover and TBH out of the ones I've expereinced I'd not have anything other than H&R's again.

At the moment it's my girlfriends daily driver and we do around 20,000 miles a year, mostly motorway miles, but we are now looking at getting a Skodia Fabia VRS and turning the 172 into my evening weeking track day car, if so then i'm after coilovers turinis and some[ Trophy Recaro seats]

I'm occasionally in hedge end so have to pass your area on the way down, if im passing i'll give you a nod and take you out in mine.

yeah my car is too low, but it's not just that, the shock/spring combo is poor as is dampening, it's a very crashy ride... like riding around on bump stops.

I'm going to get a set of Avo's when I get round to it, not spending a fortune on other coilovers as Avo have always impressed me and are the best you can get for price/performance trade off.

  172
anyone considered KW or Weitec coilovers? I can supply both if anyone needs any more info, both superb German build quality.

Bilstein.

Leda's are £ and nout special

FK's and H&R's both have incorrect springs. So...PAys your money take your chance.

H&R's are better made and the ride may be beta, but on track the times will be NO different guarenteed!

i'm looking at replacing mine at the mo. And the research i've done or info i've found is that H & R use Bilstein inserts.

Just thought you all might be interested.

H&R & Bilstein kits both use billy dampers and H&R springs the only difference is the damping/spring rates, the H&R's are softer than the billys.

  R27 - 77/500
are they a lot softer??

im wanting to reduce the roll the car has now, i take it h & r will still do this?
