what bhp could you get out the 182



  2008 Golf GTI Edition 30


GDI/y0z2asport got 200 out of a 172, so Id say it was easy enough to do the same with a 182.
 


Anywhere uptop 260bhp can be had without hassle and a touch over 300 with some serious work.

Like its been said before, depends how fast you can afford to go.

correct we did, and it sounds awesome, mid range punch is amazing
 


Has anyone actually had a turbo conversion yet? Im seriously considering it in a couple of months, BB performance said their turbod 172 topped out at 160 on the autobahn

Can it be done without a decat?

Im very interested in getting the work done, but i dont want to lose the cat. Any suggestions?

Id just like to keep the cat (possible sports cat?); dont people have problems with the engine management light / exhaust gas warning light after a decat?

Wouldnt like that either.

Good lad!!!!!

if you MUST keep the CAT, you can consider the k-tec sports CAT, but TBH id go full decat, these engines respond much better without the CAT

youll have no problems with lights on the dash

How much of a ballache is it to swap over the decat for the old cat converter at MOT time? Ive heard that it takes ages as the bolts are almost impossible to get at.

..if you go for a Prospeed Charlie will make it easy for you to change the decat back over come mot time, its just a few bolts, and if you didnt fancy it your local garage would oblige for a few £ :cool:

On the 182 it is VERY easy to swap over.

Its is one clamp and 2 bolts. The 172 is harder because, the manifold design puts the 2 bolts further torwards the engine.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but can 200 Bhp+ be achieved without making the car louder?

Im under the impression that a de-cat would be quite loud.
