what brakes??

  182
i need new disks and pads on the front, i dont want to spend a lot at all so just wondering what anyone would recomend and what price am i looking at?
i see some on ebay for about £45 for both, does that seem right?

That seems right if you want crap.

Tbh, when it comes to brakes you really dont want to buy cheap s**t.

Brembo HC discs - about £56
Pads are a bit trickier as you can spend anything, but you get what you pay for!
Halfords pads are cheap, but then they would be!

I'd go for Brembo HC discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and some goodridge braided lines.

can vouch for these as this is what i've got on mine. i'm due new ones soon so who knows what might take my fancy this time.

might try Mintex1144 pads perhaps or if i'm flush maybe some Pagid's :approve:

That set-up is very good, and is thoroughly recommended, but the pads may be a bit overkill for road use only, and the lines too.

If you're doing just road use (no track action), you should be ok with lower spec pads, perhaps the Ferodo DS pads?

my suggestion would be Maxtorq Group N discs and Mintex M1144 pads. Bargain setup in my opinion

Ferodo ds pads are fine for the road, never let me down and I'm a lover off late braking:evil:, I'd recomend em not dear either ;)

its north west performance in northwich, genuine discs and pads fitted for £150

same thing in a different box a factor would sell - with a big price addedon. no such thing as 'geniune' parts no car manufacturers make the parts they sell ;)

The factor will sell the disc with no bearing or abs ring. Renault come with both, the quality of the parts are alot better then the factors too. The parts from the factors are a copy of the original.

dont talk crap, factors sell many many different brands, 99% of which are cheap rubbish and are NOT the same as whats in the OE boxes

i know what your trying to say but your not correct in all cases, go buy some Ferodo pads from Halfords, even if the OE pads are Ferodo they are NOT the same Ferodo pad as in the OE box in a lot of cases

i worked for an independant for 4 years and now the dealer for 2 years, ive seen a LOT of parts in my time, and ive opened a lot of sealed boxes in my time to check things like this lol

Sogefi filtration own Purflux, Fram, Coopers etc, are you telling me a Coopers filter is the same as an OE part because the same company in effect makes it, is it f**k

i'm not so sure there is such a thing as overkill as far as brakes are concerned? at the end of the day they're the only thing stopping you from ploughing into the car in front or going through a hedge etc.

if you can afford the DS2500's & braided lines then i would get em (might cost a little more now but who knows, it might just save you money long term as i bet you insurance excess costs more if you smashed it :()

^^^fair point. i'm just saying they're basically the last line of defence and not something you really want to skimp on. :approve:

i'd rather spend a bit more and have some meaty pads than spend cheaply and end up with EBC Greenstuff pads........had better stopping power on my old push bike!:dead:

your the one talking crap - car manufacturers DO NOT make their own parts - hence the genuine label is not worth the paper its printed on. before shouting the odds - do your research, you clearly have no idea what your on about. the parts you sell are not 'genuine' in any way - dealers rip people off end of, and thats before the extortionate labour rates

he's the main man at Renault Parts fella ;)

OE parts are made for manufacturers specifically, as said "OE Renault ferodo/TRW pads" are specific, you cannot buy them anywhere else, you can buy ferodo premier and the like, but they won't be OE 100%

LOL i never said they did make the parts, they dont make the parts, you go fit your First Line 'OE Quality' parts and see how long they last

lol, i dont set the prices mate, Renault do, and whilst i agree some of the prices for things are a joke, i do see the whole picture where parts are concerned, and OE is fit first time and always top quality, not like some of the parts the factors peddle
