what car next if J9 CUP is a written off??

  172
S above had a chap with NL plates hit me head on 2day on my side of the road.. Bit gutted as I had some plans for it in the forth coming weeks as it was already producing 182bhp back in november with jist a cat back and filter... As any of u old members u may remember this car from when Jonr owned it.

Just carnt decide what car next if its wrote off as I'm thinking of a mondeo st tdci agen as its what I wanted when I purchased the cup orrr do I get another clio as I love the handling and shock factor u sometimes hav when your leaving more expensive cars on the road

Thoughts of possible good replacements and input from any 1 who may have or have owned a st tdci

Oh no! Jon will be gutted!

Yep I'll be gutted if it is wrote off but if that's the case I'll hopefully buy it back and brake it or maybe repair it but there's just that part of me who wants a motorway cruiser as I do a lot of miles.. Should be took in this week so hopefully I'll know the outcome by next week

yep im sick mate.. its up to 121.5k now.. still drives but i think due to the mileage and age they may write it off.. if so il hopefully buy it back and either fix it or brake it at which the plate will also be up for sale which we spoke about b4

I'd take that plate if you were selling.
Jon_r has 1st dibs m8.. i know already the ball park figure id be after as iv already had a valuation about a month or so ago
Hopefully il be able tosay if it will be returned to its glory by the beginning of next week

I'd be interested in the plate, but valuations on such things are quite hard. I'm also guessing there's a big difference between what i paid for it in 2003 and the price now!

121k, wow, she had a good life.

If its just panel damage and nothing structural, ask for the amount that the insurance company are willing to pay before its deemed written off and go buy the bits second hand.
No point killing it off if you can repair it yourself.
Easy squeezy cheesy peas.

Havnt lifted the bonnet but from my quick look its looking like.. Bonnet, bumper and slam panel.. Still runs alright and infact iv gotta drive it 250mile tonight to get it home..

Yep jon a good long life and with the plans I had the engine would of been going for a lot more as I have been in talks about getting the engine rebuilt as it as a crank shaft oil seal.. Worst bit is I'm only a few hundred short which I would have in the next 3weeks :(

I had similar damage on my cup and it was repaired. Cost £2500 to repair it so you might get lucky like I did.

Hope so emma cos it will be ashame to loose it now even tho its cost me some what but I'm not easy on it lol.. Ill try the bull s**t rareity thing like some ppl do as it 1 of the 33 iceberg with air con

Still can't believe you managed to get that done through insurance Emma!

I know, I was very very lucky. The insurance assessor that decided whether or not to repair my car is a member on here so must of had a soft spot for them.

Tbh I didn't have to kick up a stink or anything. Car was collected, it was assessed, it was fixed. It's safe to say it certainly made my day as I knew it was going to be right on the limit or over. I know that because my car is pretty mint and on a low mileage that certainly helped and the cost of paying for my mods must of been considered if imagine.

No problem Dan mate.. I'll call you later but ill probs pop over tomorrow in the old girl before Gladwins collect it

useless t**t.jpgdamage.jpg doesnt look to bad on the pic but as Chris205 can verify its worse.. gave it maybe its last blast out today

Well it was collected 2day by gladwins.. Hopefully the engineer will get it checked sharpish and get back 2 me.. I'm going to buy it back should it be written off but will not be repairing it as I carnt justify the repair bill along with the planned engine rebuild.. Would be financially daft to have that much tied up in it after the original purchase price and other money iv put in 2 it.. Was all stamped up service history aswel.. Most of which was specialists iircFingers crossed they don't give up on the old girl as after drivin my courtesy car 4all of 6hoyrs has made me realise how much fun it is 2 drive compared 2 this diesel barge avensis estate

just a little up date.. received a phone call this morning from the repair place telling me the damage comes in a little over there pre authorised budget as 2 which i asked how much and what the damage was as to which he replied with £2100 and the damage is abit more than 1st thought with it being the bonnet, front bumper, cross member, slam panel and the aircon condensor.. Engineer is booked in tomorrow to decide if its going to be a write off.... as i was planning on removing the aircon when i had the engine rebuilt im going to ask if they can remove the aircon condensor from the repair bill as i dont want it and it was probs bust before the crash as its never worked since i purchased the car

  172
Little update.. Had a call yesterday and its being repaired as theyre not going to fix the aircon condensor and are going to use a 2nd hand bumper.. Now just to park the thing up when i get it back till iv got the money in the bank again to get the oil leak fixed as i have to pqay my excess for now and claim it back at a later day due to the car being insured abroad

  172
They're using a second hand bumper? Seems odd.
Yep the engineer asked if id mind just to keep it under the repair limit as he knew i wanted it back either way so i said fine as either way id of stuck a 2nd hand bumper etc on and had to get them sprayed so its all fine by me

wouldnt of been worth it mate as id already worked it out and it would have probs workede out worse 4 me in the long run as im still going 2 have 2 do the oil leak.. 950 would of been took straight off w.e they would have gave me and i doubt itd b worth that much as its a high miler
