what coilovers

Car  Phase 1 172
hi, ive just purchased myself a phase 1 clio 172 and was wondering what expert opinions on choice of coilovers to buy. personally i would like to be able to drop further than 40mm. what coilovers are most people buying for there phase 1's and how much do they cost.

also would it be possible to see pics of 172's with coilovers so i can get some idea how i would like mine to sit.

many thanks

tom

V-maxx are a popular choice they are around the £300 mark i think..

What are you after? If it's just to drop it, vmaxx. For track etc, kw/h&r. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.

thanks for the responses.... i would like a bit off both, low and the ability of the odd spirtited drive on track

danny how did you find the konigsports on track and if so? where did you purchase them from and at what cost? i have about 700 to spend on coilovers at a push?

thanks

tom

any idea on the difference between the FK highsports, silverline and konigsports, price is pretty much similar?

thanks

Konigsports are about £700 from Venom Motorsport. They've done very well on track. They have a lot of height adjustability and the dampening is very vast too from very soft to very hard! They do the job without spending an extra £3-500

bilsteins are a bit more pricey... think i may be going for the konigsports. seem very nice and cant go wrong with the koni combo.

The Bilsteins are very good, being mono-tube they are better on high speed bump damping than the twin tube dampers from KW, FK etc, but the B14's are not damping adjustable. If you want the advantages of mono-tube dampers and damping adjustment the only option is AST. The Konigsport will give you a good setup though..

If you want to do anything but drop the car and actually improve the handling then ASTs or KWs.

But then most people dont care what cheap sets does to the handling ;)

thats not a bad price cam racing.... with regards to the lowering of the front will i need some hubcentric spacers or will i clear without them?

thanks

Does anyone know if i buy KW v1's, and file out the bottom hole, will they fit a cup packed 182? Thinking of upgrading the Ktec ones.

I've been in a car with v1's. Personally, I wouldn't bother (and I'm a bit of a kw fanboy). If you want to upgrade, h&r, billies, or kw v2's. IMO.

How much are the bilsteins for the 182s, looked for these before but struggled to ffind ones for the 182 with both cup packs!
