What comes in a cam/aux belt kits?

Got mine done the other week at rentech and i got the cambelt and aux kits done

Apart from the belt what else would of been in it? cause i forgot to ask lol

cambelt kit = 2 idlers, 1 tensioner, 1 belt (plus cam seals)
aux kit = 1 idler, 1 tensioner, 1 belt

what does the idler do? i know what the tensioner does.
