Im waiting for an item from an ebay member and have yet to receive it after a week, so I just went to contact him via ebay and it says hes no longer a member. What should I do and is there anyway of tracing him? What do you lot think? Thanks in advance, Steve

Contact ebay and explain the situation for a starter. They might be able to tell you why he/she’s no longer a member ‘security’ reason perhaps?
If you have paid for the goods (more than likely) then you’ll need to explain to them the full situation and go about money retrieval. It will in theory be easier with paypal

Very little comeback in terms of getting money back if pay via postal order, eg he could deny recieving it. How much did you pay?

thats why i got rid of my ebay account - never happened to me but the amount of people who get screwed was enough to deter me using it anymore

it was only a fiver but its the principal really aint it. Just checked his previous details and unfortunately he didnt reveal his telephone number

I use ebay alot (over 200+ feedback) I know its unfortunate but with the thousands of auctions that happen everyday there will always be a few 'bad' ebayers.

A quick search suggests to me he is already back up and running with another user ID

It would be a good idea to just give Sheffield trading standards office a ring and shop him. He may have done this to a lot of people who didnt want to risk their feedback and havent complained.

Its Just knowing that these people cant stop, once they get the taste for stealing other peoples money, and the fact Ebay wont stop them annoys me.

Just tell Trading standards the facts, and they will simply log the details. If a number of people have done the same thing, he will get a visit.

Why let them get away with it.

There is a bloke in a Welsh Valley who wishes he had never stolen my fiver, he,s doing 6 months at the moment.

Even if he behaves himself, he wont be s------g any Christmas sheep.....:nono:
