some peps spend years looking for yellow 1#2s. if you want it buy it because i doubt it wont be there long!

Seeing as you guys are the experts, what's a decent mileage on these (or what should I regard as too high). When should the cambelt have been done?

Well they do say that a cars timing belt etc should be done at 72k or 5 years (whatever comes first) Ask them if this has been done and get them to show you the appropriate paper work.

When i bought mines over a month ago it had 45k on and had been serviced every 8,000 miles but the timing belts and tensioners had not been done (Women should not be allowed to own cars i tell you!!!)

But ive since had all of that done and it runs sweet as a nut!

Ph2 bumper looks better IMO, HPI check could be required however.

Tape players in the early ph1 172's IIRC.

Agree, the ph2 bumper looks loads better but on the 172 imo, it suits the smoothness of the front one better. I only think it looks wrong when fitted to a non 172 ph1. It's probably been fitted for the way it looks, if your worried Hpi it and check the boot floor for signs of damage.

Like it's been mentioned it's rare, if you want this one be quick.

So when I phone up in the morning, if it's done over roughly that figure the cambelt should really have been done then? (slow typing LOL! been answered now - cheers!)

I need it to be pretty reliable as it would be my daily use car (I also have a black modifed concours winning 1989 XR2 as a 'garage queen')

It's been pointed out that the phase 2 rear bumper isn't the best colour match (which might just be the slightly poor pics), but also that it's labled up as an 'exclusive' which was the ltd. edition of 172 in green, right? How come you guys didn't pick up on that? :)

Found out the car has done 61,000 miles has service history and would come with a full MOT.

How much, roughly would a cambelt change cost on one of these? (assuming it's not had it done)

For a decent job get the water pump replaced, if you can afford it you may aswell because if the bearing in that goes.... it's all coming off again. it'll give you peace of mind.
I suppose I paid about £400 or so for mine from a specialist, but mine is not a 2 litre. I imagine you could get it done for £300 but take it to Renault and they'll be asking you to touch your toes.

Winge about the cam belt wanting doing and the rear bumper (even though it's an improvement) and see how much of a bargain you can get.

You wont find another like it for a while and you probably won't loose much money on it, so long as you sell it on CS, especially if you have all the work done to a good standard and look after it!

Look, just go and drive the damn thing. All this could be out of the window if it feels like a dog.

That's a good price for a silver Phquick on a forecourt let alone a rare yellow one. but for god sake dont rock up telling him how rare it is. At that price he won't want to budge much as it is.
