What do you have for a spare wheel? (172 owners with aftermarket alloys)

  Fiesta ST3
when you buy 4 aftermarket alloys, what do you keep as a spare? i take it you dont just buy 5 of the alloys?

space saver? or just use a standard 172 alloy? which i guess would do until you take your flat wheel to get repaired

just curious really

You'll usually find the rolling diameter is very close between 16" and 17", as although your going up in wheel size, your going down in tyre size. The o.e 16" will be fine for a spare.

I have 5 original Turinis but a spacesaver steel wheel is ideal, pick one up from a breaker and fit the correct diameter tyre. Saves a lot of problems when you do have a puncture.
Tyre foam is the crappiest idea for fixing punctures, it;s just temporary and scraps the original tyre, plus will not seal cuts or most tyrewall damage.

They will just take you home though, they wont fix it unless there is a tyre shop open nearby.
They can fix some puncures on a temporary basis. Or take the wheel to nearby tyre centre if open.Tyre call out is also an option, depends on the circumstances.

Everyone not running with a spare (that originaly had one, ie, not 182/197) and relying on breakdown cover should check their breakdown companies small print

Temp fix means a foam inflation jobbie. Calling out a tyre man will be expensive, the breakdown cos. wont pay for that, you will. It can work out expensive for a simple thing like a punctured tyre out of hours when a simple cheap spare will get you on your way in 15mins. for free.

Wont be. They have a bung system that leaves the tyre in a repairable condition (assuming it was in the first place)

My whole point, if a car has the room or a spare why not carry one. I had loads of people critisise me when I hd my mega stripped track car and carried a spare.

Got a oz F1 as a spear wheel. Tire foam avoid! i would rather risk it! I used the F1 when i had a puncture on of one of my 17's and it felt no different in driving.
