what do you reckon to these cars

  Renault Clio 1.8 RSi

Basically Im looking to replace my 1993 K-reg RT which has done 118000 miles with a slightly newer, lower mileage one.

Im looking for an M or N reg (Mk1 phase 2) 1.4RT, Ive found a few possibles, just a quick quick question: Did all the M and N reg RTs have the extra equipment such as ABS/PAS/Airbag?

well here are the links, please tell me what you think of them, eg mileage/price etc

how old r u ?

Why not consider an RSi ?
Im 19, but basically whats happening is im selling my car and me and me mum are going halves on a car, so that when I go away to uni in september mum has her own little car to bomb about in, and I will have something to drive in the holidays and stuff

Which is why were not looking for a Valver/RSi!:)

Yeah look for a valver or RSi, cheap insurance on mummies name and itd actualy be legit!

Would you touch a phase3? less modable BUT theres some good LTD Ed cars with nice trim etc..

OK ignore the last link, its the highest mileage (68k) and most expensive, plus in 4000 miles time it will be due a new timing belt!

tell your mum she can get her shopping quicker in a valver!! the insurance wont be that much dearer! go on, you kno u wana!

I said were NOT looking for a Valver/RSi!!! :D

Not really interesting in modding, may consider a phase 3 (is that the same as Mark 2?), although not so keen on the front styling, more prefer the phase 1s headlights. although im not going to base a decision solely on a cars headlights!

Never knew there was a Mark 1 phase 3...

your car looks mint mate, very good spec.

Before i can do anythin, i gotta sell mine first!!

afaik the Mk1 Phase 1 and 2 are exactly the same mechanically, just the options, dash and slightly different bumpers/door mouldings. Whereas the phase 3 has some mechanical improvements :)

Its safer, stronger side impact bars as far as Im aware.

the engine is the same as far as im aware, its rumoured the Sport and Maxim S have close ratio gear boxes, making them ever so slightly quicker to 60 but forget i even said that!

Dont be fooled into thinking that a low mileage car will be a better buy! Maybe this is the case when a car is less than 5 years old, but older than this and much wear and tear relates to age rather than mileage (e.g. rubbers, corrosion etc).

My Willy on 60k miles is having the same jobs that my old 16V was having at 105k.

Ben H, you have a good point there.

Ive just been out this evening looking at an N-reg 1.9D RT advertised, i turned up and it had 114000 miles on the clock!!!!! Needless to say Im gonna pass on that.

Also the engine was warm when i got there (something to be suspicious of?), and also idling when i started it up, the car was juddering, revs were all over the show until i touched the throttle. Plus the rear arches & subframe were beginning to rust, the seats were filthy and the oil gauge on the dash didnt work. I dont reckon thats worth £1995 do you?!!
