what gearbox will fit in 172 cup?

gearbox has gone on my 172 cup will any 172-182 gearboxes be straight swap or do i need a 172 cup replacement? thanks

The Cup gearbox has a speedo drive, the standard 172/182 dosen't need it as it uses the ABS system to drive the speedo.

Incorrect, an early 172 will use a speedo drive gearbox, 02 plate and earlier.

Also the ph1 box has a longer final drive than the ph2/172 cup one but will fit.

You need either the jc5 129 or jc5 089

the 129 is the box from the 172 cup
the 089 is from the PH 172

both these have the speedo drive.

all other 172/182's use the jc5 130 and these will fit and work but they don't have the speedo drive so you won't have a speedo.
